PROJECT SIDELIGHT

THIS PROJECT CAME ABOUT AS I
WANTED A LITTLE PRIVACY. OUR NEW
FRONT DOOR HAS CLEAR GLASS SIDE LIGHTS.
I DIDNT LIKE THE IDEA OF PEOPLE BEING
ABLE TO LOOK IN.
HERE IS A PICTURE OF THE DOOR
BEFORE...

SO WHAT I DID WAS PURCHASE THIS BAMBOO
ROMAN SHADE FROM LOWES WHICH WAS
ON CLEARANCE FOR
$6

when i was visiting my family in upstate
NY this week i had my brother cut the
roman shade down to the size i needed.
he did this with a circular saw

i taped the shade all the way around
where i had him cut it so it wouldnt
fray or chip the bamboo and i went over
the cut end with a lighter to prevent
fraying as well.

i used velcro to attach it to the door
and tada...

AFTER....

NOT BAD FOR $6
THEY LOOK LIKE THEY WERE MADE
FOR THE DOOR.
THEY ALLOW LIGHT IN AND GIVE ME
THE PRIVACY I WANTED...

  2. Your door is gorgeous! I love the wood. We have windows on either side of our door also. I've contemplated whether or not to cover them. I like what you did!

  10. Great idea. I will have to do that for my mom. She has the exact same side windows covered with some ugly shades b/c she didn't know what else to do. I love your rug too!
