YOU MIGHT BE ASKING , WHY WOULD I BE CALLING THIS POST IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT, BECAUSE IT IS ABOUT OUTDOOR FURNITURE .
WELL, I'LL TELL YOU.
MY NEIGHBOR PUT THEIR RUSTED OLD
LAWN CHAIRS OUT BY THE ROAD
TO DISCARD. I DIDN'T WANT THEM TO
THINK I WAS NUTZ FOR WANTING
THEM, SO I WAITED FOR DARKNESS
TO FALL THEN MADE MY MOVE
I EVEN BROUGHT MY FIANCE IN ON MY
CRAZINESS. BUT
I'LL TELL YOU WHAT YOU GET ALOT
OF GREAT STUFF ROADSIDE BROWSING.
HERE IS WHAT THEY LOOKED
LIKE BEFORE...
AND AFTER I WORKED THE MAGIC..
I PICKED UP A WIRE BRUSH
ON THEM TO REMOVE ALL THE RUST. THEN GOOD
OLD OIL RUBBED BRONZE SPRAY
PAINT CAME TO THE RESCUE.
THREW ON A FEW CUSHIONS
-NO I DIDNT MAKE THE CUSHIONS-
AND BINGO!!!
THERE IS A BENCH TO BUT I HAVE TO
FIND JUST THE RIGHT CUSHION FOR IT
AND I'LL POST THAT TOO.
THERE IS A BENCH TO BUT I HAVE TO
FIND JUST THE RIGHT CUSHION FOR IT
AND I'LL POST THAT TOO.
Aaah! I would call your neighbors crazy for discarding of those beauties, not you!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job rescuing them.. :)
I would hide those lovely chairs...your neighbor is gonna want them back! They are beautiful1!!!
ReplyDeleteSusan
You go girl! 'Roadside Browsing' is such a civilized way to describe stalking your neighbors crap and turning it into a treasure right under their noses. I would seriously hide these for awhile before they get wise and have the audacity to starting keeping their trash for themselves.
ReplyDeleteI just love this post. I need neighbors like yours. No one puts out good stuff near me. Nice job. Thanks for sharing at my Swing into Spring party.
ReplyDeleteWay to go! They look fantastic! You did a great job smoothing out the peeling paint and rust. I am always looking at curbs for furniture that can be fixed up!
ReplyDeleteJen
Scissors & Spatulas
are you sure those are the same chairs????
ReplyDeleteOh, you are so lucky! I have been wanting to find some metal furniture that needs saving.....beautiful job you did in restoring these.
ReplyDeleteOver from WUW.. I love them! great job, they look brand new. I am a new follower.
ReplyDeleteWow! Those chairs look great. You really did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteoooh they look super good! Love the title of this post...I'm gonna be rockin that song the rest of the night...:)
ReplyDeleteI have those same identical chairs, AND they were a free curb find too! And I scraped them and painted mine black too! Ha! I couldn't believe someone wanted to toss them. You did a really great job on yours! Thank you for sharing this on Masterpiece Monday. Have a great week, Mary :O)

ReplyDeleteAh a fellow Roadside Ninja - we are stealth and work by night!
ReplyDeleteI bet your neighbours are in tears...
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look fantastic, love the red seat cushions against the black frames, very striking! Great work.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so impressed, they look brand new!
ReplyDeleteawesome score... they turned out awesome lauren!
ReplyDeleteToo Fun!! And, and awesome make over! Life's an Adventure!!
ReplyDeleteSuper new look and I just love the whimsy you add to your posts. Thanks for joining WUW.
ReplyDeleteI am SO glad that you linked this!! We stole chairs out of the garbage while on vacation one year....yes, bikes, luggage and 5 chairs hauled from the trash had to be lugged back home! They've been sitting ugly for a year because I haven't know what to do with them....can you email me more details. How does the wire attachment work? Did you spray the vinyl too or just cover it with the cushion? I'm so excited! I was about to trash them because I had given up hope of making them beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteOh...and we've hauled ALOT out of our neighbor's garbage...bikes, dressers...:)
That is absolutely hilarious! Do the neighbors even recognize them?! They are so lovely! One time I made my hubby go up a few houses at night and pick up a 5 ft. wrought iron piece of scroll work fencing the neighbors put by the curb! Didn't realize how heavy that thing was -- I should have helped him but I just watched :)
ReplyDeleteYour chairs are really lovely. This is a project I would love to do. Thanks for you inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThis set turned out lovely! The makeover is absolutely incredible!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had neighbors like yours :-( These are stunning! If I lived closer Id invite myself over to park my butt right there for an afternoon of chat and cheers!
ReplyDeleteHa! That cracks me up b/c I recently trash-picked 2 BIG canvases out of a neighbor's trash and, like you, waited 'til dark so no one would like I was crazy. Good score on the chairs-- they turned out beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am going to be more watchful of my neighbor's trash cans......LOL....I have never found anything curbside, but then maybe, I do not know how to "look". You ladies inspire me to try and see something wonderful in something I would throw away.
ReplyDeleteLauren, you added much pizzaz to the chairs! Great job :) Thanks for linking this awesome post at the Creative Bloggers' Party & Hop. It's a great Mothers' Day present for me :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for great article.
ReplyDeleteI bought a metal futon from flea market and I need to do something similar.
