I PICKED UP THIS LIBRARY BOOKCASE
OFF OF CRAIGS LIST THE OTHER DAY AND
DECIDED TO DO A COLOR THAT I
HAVE NEVER DONE.
GREY !!!
WELL I LOVE THE COLOR AND
IM GLAD I DECIDED TO USE
IT FOR HER.
HERE IS WHAT SHE
LOOKED LIKE WHEN I PICKED HER UP
I LOVED THE BEVELED GLASS AND THE STYLE OF HER.I WASN'T CRAZY ABOUT THE BRASS WITH THE
GLASS OR THE WOOD COLOR.
SO I GOT HOME FROM WORK TODAY AND
GOT A SUDDEN BURST OF ENERGY..
AND SO IT CAME TO BE-
MISS GREY THE LIBRARIAN..
LOVE THE GREY NOW I JUST NEED A LIBRARY TO
PUT HER IN !!!
COMMENTS I LOST
WHEN BLOGGER WENT DOWN...

Great gray, Lauren! It looks much better. I notice you did something to the top glass portion too that got rid of the brass. Did you just use paint or some Rub N Buff?3

ReplyDeletei want her! she would look great in my office. thanks for sharing this at my party!
ReplyDeleteI love this. How did you get rid of the brassy color?
ReplyDeleteI really like that shade of grey. It's perfect. So you used rub and buff on the wood part? It looks like it was meant to be that way.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful in gray! I love it.
ReplyDeletei painted the brass part around the glass with paint and then used rub-n-buff in patina color to create a more weathered metal look.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! You chose the perfect color! Think of how that glass design will pop with light colored books on the top shelf!
ReplyDeleteWow...this is beautiful...so glad you got your second wind after work...Great job!

ReplyDeleteLove the grey! How did you cover the brass- did you just hand paint it black? Just wondering for a little brass trim I'll be covering. Thanks!!

Miss Gray looks fantastic! Can I have her to store linens in? :) I wish my library was selling one of those!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautful - and I love how you name your pieces. I found you via "Better After" - and I'll have to come back! This is a style of bookcase that my sister has, compliments of my grandparents from years ago. So cool. What paint did you use?
ReplyDeleteThe gray looks so nice, and I love the way the front glass doors look.
ReplyDeleteThis is SO lovely! I'm in love with the gray...you do such a nice job Lauren!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask what you used to color the brass on Miss Grey? Did you use a spray nickel? I have my grandma's old china cab and I really want to do something to it. My mom is going to kill me, but it is a 70's cab and I'm looking for ideas. it has brass lines on the glass. I want to keep the piece, but I want to like it, too. andrea @ townandprairie
ReplyDeleteLove the gray color of the bookshelf. I think I also need to have a new bookshelf for my books, eh. :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Cathy@discount scrubs
This is so gorgeous. Fabulous job! Can you tell me how you darkened the brass? I’ve got a barristers bookcase that is identical to this and would love to do your makeover on it!
