LIGHT CAGE UPDATE FOR OLD SOFFIT LIGHTING $28 - TUTORIAL

I'VE HAD UGLY OLD SOFFIT LIGHTING
ABOVE MY SINK IN MY MAIN
BATHROOM SINCE I BOUGhT MY HOUSE
IT LOOKED EVEN WORSE THAN THIS!

I FORGOT THE BEFORE OF MY
SOFFIT LIGHTS BUT I'M SURE YOU
ALL KNOW WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE!
UGLY

I DECIDED THAT I WANTED SOME KIND OF HANGING
PENDENT LIGHT IN IT'S PLACE

I WENT TO LOWES AND
BOUGHT THIS LIGHT KIT FOR
$20 DOLLARS
AND I GOT IT IN THE
OIL RUBBED BRONZE FINISH.
I HAVE TWO LIGHTS ABOVE MY
SINK SO I HAD TO BUY 2 KITS.

THEY ARE VERY EASY TO INSTALL, THE
KIT HAS A SOCKET THAT SCREWS
INTO YOUR OLD RECESSED SOCKET AND
THEN YOU ADJUST THE CORD TO THE
LENGTH YOU WANT.

SO THAT TOOK ME UNDER 45 MINS,
AFTER READING THE INSTRUCTIONS
AND STUFF. IT WAS A REALLY
FAST FIX.

I WENT TO LOWES AND LOOKED AT
THE GLASS PENDANTS THAT
I COULD HAVE PURCHASED BUT
I WANTED MORE OF AN INDUSTRIAL
LOOK AND I WANTED IT TO BE OPEN
TO GIVE OFF MORE LIGHT.THE
PENDENT LIGHTS ONLY TAKE THE
CHANDELIER BASE BULBS AND THE
HIGHEST I'VE SEEN
THOSE IS 60 WATT.

BROWSING ON THE INTERNET I
SAW THESE AT GRAINGER- IT'S
A TOOL AND INDUSTRIAL WORK STORE.
AT $8.00 I KNEW I FOUND
WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR.

HERE IT IS

IT COMES WITH 2 SCREWS THAT
GET SCREWED INTO THE TOP OF
THE CAGE TO TIGHTEN IT.

THIS IS THE ITEM NUMBER IF
ANY OF YOU DECIDE IT'S
YOUR STYLE!

SO YOUR PENDENT LIGHT
KIT COMES WITH A CERAMIC
PIECE THAT SCREWS ONTO
WHERE THE LIGHT BULB GOES

TAKE THIS OFF ...

AS YOU CAN TELL BY
MY WONDERFUL DIAGRAM THE
RING GETS FITTED INTO THE
TOP OF THE CAGE AND THE
SCREW GO IN AND TIGHTEN TO
HOLD THE RING IN PLACE.

YOU THEN JUST SCREW THE CAGE
ONTO THE FIXTURE AND YOUR DONE!
EASY PEASY

I LOVE THE NEW LOOK
AND I'M HAPPY WITH THE
WAY IT LOOKS.

IM IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THE
MIRROR THAT GOES ON THAT WALL
BUT IM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD
KEEP THE MEDICINE CABINET AND
PAINT IT OR JUST GO WITH A
MIRROR. WHAT DO YOU THINK
ARE MEDICINE CABINETS OLD
FASHIONED OR THOSE WHO JUST
HAVE A MIRROR, DO YOU MISS
NOT HAVING A MEDICINE CABINET
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

  5. Go with just a mirror if your sink has a vanity or there's another area for storage. Medicine cabs are out unless they are old and vintage (isn't that crazy?!)

  6. I love the light!! It looks great! And I say just do mirror if you don't have to have the storage.

  10. So cool, I love that you found all of these pieces for just a few dollars total. Lighting tends to be expensive.
