INTRODUCING MISS HELIX !

WHY MISS HELIX?
WELL HERE'S THE SCOOP..
I SAW THIS PICTURE ONLINE
AND I WAS INSPIRED BY THE COLORS...

THIS IS ACTUALLY A HELIX NEBULA
AFTER I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH I LEARNED THAT
THEY CALL THIS THE EYE OF GOD.
IT'S CAUSED BY COMETS KICKING UP DUST
AROUND A STAR THAT HAS DIED.
LOOK AT THAT !!!
WE LEARN SOMETHING NEW
EVERY DAY...

ANYWAY I LOVED THESE COLORS TOGETHER.
WHEN I PAINTED THIS PIECE I STARTED
WITH RED AND THEN DID THE TEAL COLOR OVER
IT AND DISTRESSED THE RED THROUGH..

HERE IS MISS HELIX BEFORE..
SHES THE PIECE I FOUND AT THE ESTATE SALE

AND HERE SHE IS AFTER...

HOPE YOU LIKE HER!!!

  56. She is just beautiful! And this is coming from a "purist" meaning, I tend to like plain wood... I am beginning to change. While the lawyer's bookcases, curved glass cabinet, and a couple of other of my dad's nicer cabinets, which I grew up with, will probably always remain wood... Pretty much everything else in my house is now open for negotiation...and I am subscribing to your blog, to learn a bit about color from you. Your restorations are a cut above most. I just LOVE the blue you used on Miss Helix, and with the black, AWESOME.
